We have a large wide bowl in our balcony with three tiny fish in it. When I fed them yesterday, I saw them leap up and come to the surface and start eating the food. Then I saw them play. One of them was not allowing the other to eat and was chasing it. Then both ran around the bowl chasing each other. I was watching this with fascination. I was completely absorbed as I watched the behaviour of the fish with curiosity. There was no judging or even trying to understand why they were doing what they did. Simply watching them play. In that moment.
Now, this is the kind of curiosity we need to cultivate in life. Watch life unfurl and live it by being present in the moment. But it is easily said than done. We have so many expectations that do not allow us to be in the present moment.
Our life is like a safari, we are often looking for big game – either a tiger or a lion or leopard. And craning our necks and peering into the distance to spot one. All the while missing out on what is right in front of us. The trees, flowers, smaller animals, birds go by unnoticed as our minds focus on that one large animal.
In the same way, showing up and being present today with your work will help you to reach your goals. than over-focussing on the goals. You are missing out on life by not being present with what is happening with you now. To learn how to be present, practise every day for a few minutes by sitting with yourself.

Wonderful article. The simplicity of expression is like a breath of fresh air. This is profound and yet simple. Mature and the wise would not just read, they would or start practicing this.
