When we talk about behaviour change – which is what we are trying to begin in this program. Are we not? Trying to become less stressed, understand ourselves more. It is not easy to do although it is very simple.
You need someone gentle but firm to guide you and make you do things which you don’t like to do – like push-ups or running or yoga or even the boring parts of your job like marking assignments or any other such thing for example.
If there is one thing only that you can take away from this program – it would be to notice the animal instinct within – and treat that kindly and with love and patience, so it doesnot create conflict within.
When I say love yourself it shouldn’t feel like an indulgence. I think sometimes it is mistaken for expensive clothes, a visit to the spa or parlour and buying luxurious bedsheets. Although it is perfectly alright if you think you deserve it.
Caring for yourself is a discipline not an indulgence. It requires you to be strong, committed to your priorities and a respect for yourself and the people you love.
So an example of self-love could be say
Getting off Netflix because it is time to go for your yoga class. Or daily walk
Declining the second helping of prasad ka halva because it is good for you, even if someone forces you to take it.
It is that kind of guilt-free self love that we all need to cultivate.
