Our sensations like aches and pains are how our body communicates with us. They are an important part of our mental and psychological development. Our sensations trigger our emotions. Our emotions trigger our thoughts. And thoughts trigger the intensity of our emotions. And the vicious cycle goes on, and we get caught in it.

Hence it is important to pay attention to our body. If we can tune into the signals that our body gives us, we can save ourselves, the stress that we experience. We get stressed when we flow along with our thoughts and emotions, without being aware of it.

Sometimes, we get so caught up in our life, that we don’t realise the physical discomfort in our body. This physical discomfort is connected to our emotional state. The heavy breaths, the fast heartbeats and the tense muscles are the language used by our body to talk to us. When we train to pay attention to our body, we tune into our emotions as well.

What are these sensations? These could be warmth, cold, general discomfort, pain or ache. It could also be an itch, buzzing, tingling, tension, pressure or tenderness. Or any other sensation you notice, or even no sensation at all.

You need to train to be conscious and aware of the different parts of your body. And allow yourself to experience these sensations, without trying to change anything. This helps you to understand how your body reacts to a stimulus. When you become aware of the reaction of the body, you can choose how to respond to a situation in a calm manner.
