We all want to be happy. We also want to enjoy a feeling of wellness. We want to cultivate habits that will set us free from self-doubt. It could be developing habits that are as simple as speaking to our parents, going for a walk or writing a page every day. Whatever it is, we feel satisfied when we accomplish that task.
But yet our behaviour, our thoughts and our emotions are not in sync with what we want. We keep repeating the unproductive, self-critical, nagging thoughts in our mind.
During our meditation practice, we might get some relief from them. But when we are off the mat, amid our day, we have so many thoughts and emotions that go unnoticed. These repeated thought patterns govern our behaviour.
When you bring mindfulness into what you do, you see the things you do, say, think and feel, from a space within. This helps you to understand how these affect your wellness.
A regular meditation practice helps you to see these patterns of thought and emotions with clarity. You see how it can destroy your wellness and peace of mind. Meditation helps you to acknowledge these thoughts without encouraging them and let them go; and then, to gently bring your focus back to the habits that you want to cultivate.
