When you see a large mountain in front of you there is this sense of immovability and groundedness about it.
It seems uncaring about what is happening around it or on it. There is the rain, the clouds, the animals – even vehicles, but the mountain seems unruffled. But in its own way it supports all that is happening around.
We can find this kind of sturdiness in our meditation too.
We watch what is happening around us without getting involved in it. We watch as our thoughts, emotions and sensations go by.
So sit like a mountain, unruffled, unfazed by what is happening around you. But at the same time, you don’t ignore what is happening but are present with your moods, your body and your thoughts.
With practice, you’ll not only be able to watch your thoughts and emotions – but also see them with clarity.
